DETAILS OF DEATH

On 5 February 1949 Constable Patch was riding a Police motor cycle from Parramatta to Sutton Forest where he was to perform special Vice Squad duty. About ten kilometres north of Mittagong on the Hume Highway the cycle left the roadway throwing the Constable onto a rock heap. As a result he sustained a fractured skull and died a short time later in the Berrima District Hospital. The Constable was born in 1922 and joined the New South Wales Police Force on 11 November 1946. At the time of his death he was stationed at Rose Bay.
